My name is Deborah.
I was diagnosed with Relapse-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2013.
I became a mother in 2016.
While the title of this blog is a play on being a mother with MS, neither solely define me. I am a: hippie, crafter, geek, lover, researcher, instructor, cat mother, wine drinker, and artist. I am a transplanted New Englander that has lived in Atlanta for the past 9 years.
The MS diagnosis made me take stock of my life and becoming a mother turned that into sharp focus. I recognized that I spent the better part of 15 years with the mental mantra of: “when I have the time, I’ll eat healthy; lose weight; go after personal goals; get everything sorted and together. Once ALL that happens, I’ll be satisfied.”
As most punchlines go, waiting gets you nowhere and making your own happiness comes once you take that first step. Back in July of 2017 I hatched a plan to make some serious life changes with my overall lifestyle. I recognized that I may have limited time with my mobility and I wanted to model healthy habits for my son while I am able and hopefully extend my quality of life so I can enjoy his childhood.
